• No Dogs at the soccer fields!

We love dogs, but SYSA reminds you that both Seattle and Shoreline municipal codes prohibit dogs on play fields. Seattle municipal code strictly prohibits dogs on organized athletic playfields to protect public health, safeguard sports infrastructure, and ensure community safety.

The primary driver behind this rule is health and sanitation. Dog waste left on fields contains harmful bacteria and parasites, creating a biohazard for athletes who frequently slide or tackle on the ground. Additionally, unseen waste easily gets lodged into athletic cleats, carrying contaminants off the field.

Field damage and maintenance are also major concerns for the city. Dog paws, heavy running, and digging carve up natural grass into muddy divots and can permanently ruin expensive synthetic turf fields. These holes and uneven patches create dangerous tripping hazards, putting running athletes at a high risk for twisted ankles or more severe injuries.

Finally, the ban ensures safety and prevents play disruption during games. Loose or excited dogs frequently run onto fields and interfere with organized youth sports practices and matches. Removing dogs from these specific zones minimizes unpredictable animal behavior, ensuring young children can run the bases or chase balls without fear of being frightened or bitten.

    Coaches, parents, players - please help us make our soccer fields safe places for our kids. Soccer goals should always be weighted and anchored, both when in use and especially when not in use.

  • Keep our fields and restrooms clean!

    We all have to do our part to keep our public spaces safe and desirable to use. Please remember to use trash cans provided. For turf playing surfaces, food and gum are not allowed. Restroom facilities are maintained by Parks and Schools districts. See below to report concerns or issues with restrooms at various fields.
