Board Elections (2026-2028 TERM)

Seattle Youth Soccer is now accepting nominations for four open Board of Directors positions, with elections coming up soon. This is a great opportunity for dedicated community members, parents, and supporters to help shape the future of youth soccer in our region. Board members play a vital role in guiding programs, supporting player development, and ensuring a positive experience for all participants.

We encourage individuals with a passion for soccer, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to serving our youth community to consider running. Whether your background is in coaching, administration, finance, or community engagement, your voice and perspective are valuable.

The President's Responsibilities

  • Preside as Chair at all meetings of the Board

  • Supervise the management and operation of the Corporation

  • Supervise the Executive Director or similar positions employed by the Board

  • Convene special committees and task forces


The VP of Competition's Responsibilities

  • Exchange Programs

  • Seasonal league play

  • Tournament play

  • Maintain records of perpetual awards and trophies owned and presented by SYSA

  • Serve as Chair of the Rules Committee


Treasurer Responsibilities

  • Maintaining permanent financial records and a bookkeeping system for the Corporation along with the Staff.

  • Maintaining bank accounts on behalf of the Corporation

  • Disbursing funds as approved by the President and the Board

  • Payment of taxes or fees levied on the Corporation by local, state, or federal authorities.

  • Oversight of the administrative staff assigned duties under the control of the Treasurer


The VP of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

The VP of DEI role is an important contributor to the ongoing success of SYSA and its mission to ensure a diverse and inclusive culture for youth athletes in Seattle and the professional organization.

The role requires a nominal time commitment, 6-10 hours a month, with occasional support of events on weekends or evenings a few times a year. We are looking for someone who has a passion for youth sports, creating opportunities for those who have been systemically underserved and lacking opportunities to participate in youth sports, and actively promoting and ensuring an anti-racist, supportive, and respectful environment for the entire youth soccer community in Seattle and the surrounding areas.

This role is ideally filled by a person with at least 3-5 years of experience in the workforce, worked with a diverse group of people, has some knowledge of the DEI space, is interested in learning, and is able to speak up and represent those whose voices and interests may not be otherwise represented in policy creation or enforcement within the organization. This role serves a two-year term, participates in Executive Officer board meetings and Board of Directors/Commissioners meetings monthly.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Vice-President of DEI shall:

  • Serve as chair of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee

  • Serve as an ex officio member of the Rules Committee, Judicial Committee, and Disciplinary Committee

  • The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee shall: Research and implement strategies for the SYSA board and club boards to foster DEI principles and goals, and further extend our outreach into underserved populations, and encourage positive engagement in club and organizational activities and governing positions.

  • Establish goals and strategies to foster continual growth and improvement in organizational policies to integrate DEI considerations throughout the Association.

  • Propose and implement where applicable new programs, resources, and educational opportunities to advance the DEI committee’s mission for current and future board members, coaches, volunteers, and players.

  • Establish, maintain and analyze metrics of DEI initiatives.e) Members of the DEI Committee shall be the Vice President of DEI, who shall serve as Committee Chair; a minimum of one Director volunteer approved by the Board; other volunteers from the general membership and the community at large, who are selected by the Committee Chair and approved by the Board.
