Founded in 1973 after branching off from Capitol Hill Soccer Club, McGilvra Youth Soccer Club has been a vibrant part of the Madison Park and Madrona neighborhoods for over five decades. Today, it serves more than 650 youth players, many of whom attend local schools such as McGilvra Elementary, The Bush School, Epiphany School, The Valley School, and Madrona Elementary.
McGilvra offers two main programs: the MOD program for players under 8, and the Associate program for players 9 and older. To support new volunteer coaches, the club also provides professional coaching assistance during practices—ensuring a positive experience for both players and coaches.
McGilvra’s success on the field is matched by its commitment to development and sportsmanship. In 2024, the BU15 McG Panthers—coached by Ray Robinson, SYSA’s 2024 Boys Coach of the Year—secured their second consecutive SYSA City Championship. The GU11 McG Boltz and BU12 McG Blazers also claimed city titles this year, showcasing the club’s depth of talent across age groups.
Leading the club since 2023 is President Nick Tchemitcheff, a longtime local player who brings passion and community focus to the role. Under his leadership, McGilvra continues to emphasize inclusivity, offering full and partial scholarships to keep soccer accessible for all families. Scholarship inquiries can be made by emailing info@mcgilvrasoccer.org, and donations toward the scholarship fund and equipment can be made at givebutter.com/wrG6JI.
The club also recently welcomed 1-1 Fitness, a Madison Park-based personal training studio, as its newest sponsor—deepening its local partnerships and community ties.
Volunteers remain the backbone of the club. McGilvra is currently seeking coaches, assistant coaches, and team managers, as well as two key board positions: Treasurer and Equipment Coordinator. Interested community members can learn more atmcgilvrasoccer.org or email president@mcgilvrasoccer.org.
